The term Terroir TEKOV denotes an area stretched on southern slopes of the Štiavnica Mountains and Ipeľ Highlands, where vineyards take their roots deeply into the tuff and andesite volcanic igneous rocks. This area is bounded by the river Hron from the west. From the north and east, it is protected by the majestic Štiavnica Mountains. Warm air from endless plains of the Danube Lowland flows to this area from the south.
The area known as Terroir TEKOV covers great part of two vine-growing regions, Tekov and Pukanec region. From the vine-growing and wine-making point of view, these two regions are naturally connected by the same geological subsoil, microclimate, history and cultural identity.
